Examination Policy
This course includes a Midterm Examination and a Final
Examination. Both examinations will be administered online
through Blackboard.
Exam Format
The Midterm and Final Exams are not proctored. Students
will not be required to use a webcam, testing center, or online proctoring service.
However, examinations are timed assessments and must
be completed independently within the time allowed.
Unless otherwise stated by the instructor:
- Exams must be completed individually.
- Students will have one attempt to complete each exam.
- Exams must be completed within the designated testing period.
- Once an exam is started, the timer will begin and will continue to run.
- Students must submit the exam before the time limit expires.
- Students should plan to complete the entire exam in one sitting.
- Students may not work with classmates or another individual while completing an exam.
- Students may not copy, photograph, record, post, share, distribute, or reproduce exam questions or answers.
- Students are expected to follow all LSCO academic-integrity requirements.
Testing Window
Students will be provided with a designated period in which to
access and complete each examination. Students may choose when to begin the
exam during the available testing window; however, once the exam is started,
the established time limit will apply.
Students are strongly encouraged not to wait until the final hour of the
testing window to begin an exam.
Starting an exam shortly before the Blackboard deadline does not
extend the closing time unless otherwise stated by the instructor.
Technical Problems During an Exam
Students are responsible for using a reliable internet
connection and a device capable of accessing Blackboard.
If a legitimate technical problem occurs during an exam, the
student should:
- Take a screenshot or photograph of the error message, if possible.
- Record the approximate time the problem occurred.
- Contact the instructor as soon as possible and explain what happened.
Reporting a technical problem does not automatically guarantee
an additional attempt. The instructor will review the circumstances and determine
whether an exam reset, additional attempt, or other accommodation is
appropriate.
Missed Exams
Students are expected to complete the Midterm and Final Exams
within the posted testing windows.
Because exams are major course assessments, students who know in
advance that they may be unable to complete an exam during the scheduled period
should contact the instructor before the deadline whenever possible.
Make-up examinations may be permitted for documented
emergencies, illness, or other extenuating circumstances at the instructor's
discretion and in accordance with college policy.
Academic Integrity
Although examinations are not proctored, students are expected
to demonstrate academic integrity.
Submitting answers obtained from another person or sharing
examination questions or answers with others is prohibited. Students are
responsible for completing their own work and following all applicable college
academic-integrity policies.
Violations may result in academic penalties consistent with
college policy.
