Faculty members will enforce strict academic penalties for violations involving cheating, plagiarism, collusion, or the abuse of resource materials. This syllabus stands as your official notification of your right to appeal an academic penalty.
When testing online, the proctoring software logs student behavior. The instructor considers the following actions as direct evidence of cheating or a violation of academic integrity:
· failure to show a photo ID upon beginning the exam,
· failure to properly record the testing area as prompted,
· disabling or blocking the camera and/or microphone,
· deliberately moving one’s face away from the camera’s view,
· frequently looking down, around, or in directions other than the computer,
· reading the exam questions loud enough for either another person to hear or an electronic device to receive,
· evidence of another person assisting the test taker,
· use of prohibited materials (notes, book, cheat sheets, cards, cellphone, other devices, etc.)
· taking the exam in a noisy environment, i.e. a room with extended conversation, television, or music.
· using or attempting to use artificial intelligence (AI) to answer test questions (as indicated by the above behaviors),
· any suspicious behaviors that demonstrate a student’s attempt to deceive either the proctoring services or the instructor.
Any flagged incident report from the proctoring service may result in an immediate academic penalty or an administrative drop from the course with an F.
