Introduction to Professional Nursing for Integrated Programs I (ADN) (51.3801)
Introduction to the profession of nursing including the roles of the professional nurse as provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, member of health care team, and member of the profession with emphasis on health promotion and primary disease prevention across the lifespan; essential components of the nursing health assessment; identification of deviations from expected health patterns; the application of clinical reasoning processes and clinical judgment to provide basic nursing care to patients across the lifespan; and applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. This course lends itself to an integrated approach. Prerequisite: BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2420, ENGL 1301, MATH 1314 (or MATH 1342), RNSG 1300, RNSG 1311, and Admission to the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program. TEC.
